| Vincenzo Leo Stankard is riding in honor of Eunice K. Shriver at the Best Buddies Hearst Castle Challenge
Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. I continue to make great progress recovering from my Heart surgery. My Cardiologist says I'm doing so well that I don't have go back for tests for another (6) weeks and hopefully by then my pulmonary pressure will have improved & my Tricuspid and Mitral valves will have stopped leaking.
I've had so much fun traveling to visit family this summer and my next adventure is participating in the Best Buddies Hearst Castle Challenge on September 12th 2009. Currently, I am in training for the 5K and will be riding in style as Mommy and Daddy push me in my Bugaboo stroller. Daddy & his Buddy Michael Kelly are 2x defending champions of the tandem 100 mile bike ride...Michael is the only Buddy with intellectual disabilities to have completed the 100 mile ride 2x ! This year, they are taking a break from the 100 mile ride and will join Mommy & me in my inaugural Best Buddies race!
As many of you know, Best Buddies is an organization that works with people with intellectual disabilities. Since I have Down Syndrome, Best Buddies is an organization that I will benefit from my entire life and it will mean a great deal if you would make a contribution to Best Buddies. Also I am riding this year in honor of Eunice Kennedy Shriver who started Special Olympics, and past away a few weeks ago. Eunice's contributions to this world are remarkable, and she is an inspiration to our family reminding us to always strive for excellence and remember to put people, friendships, family, and love first. Eunice's son Anthony Shriver started Best Buddies more than 20 years ago as a student at Georgetown University. Today, Best Buddies is worldwide helping millions of people and peer buddies build friendships, find jobs, and candidly help make the world a better place!

What if you woke up one day and felt sad and alone? You had no one to eat lunch with and no one to share your life with? There are 7.5 million Americans with intellectual disabilities – and 200 million worldwide – who are the most neglected and undervalued population in the world, and, as such, children with intellectual disabilities often grow up experiencing a life of rejection and isolation.
